Dear Sir/ Ma’am,
I am seeking a position within your IT services department.
While working at Keystone Community Network (KCnet). I was in charge of maintaining and troubleshooting
KCnet’s wide area wireless networks. Maintaining customer satisfaction and network reliability was
paramount. KCnet had over 250 subscribers. I personally installed over half of them in the two years I worked
with KCnet.
I helped plan, upgrade and install local area networks for several local businesses. One of the
larger installations was for Susquehanna Eye Associates in Lock Haven, PA. The biggest upgrade I had to
perform was altering settings on all of our wireless subscribers. The configuration changes were made
remotely. During this process, the customer units would lose connection until the change was made to the
access point. This process was performed in three nights with minimal customer downtime, two days ahead
of schedule. Only four customers out of 246 needed to have a service call at their location to bring them back
online.
My experience working as a Sergeant in the United States Army signal corps has taught me the value of
teamwork. I operated and maintained a communications node that was part of the DOD (Department of
Defense) South Korean Theatre network. I provided VoIP and data services directly to the commanding and
vice-commanding General’s headquarters. In the Army I gained experience working with and troubleshooting
Cisco routers, switches, call managers and Microsoft Server 2008.
I will strive to reduce or eliminate service outages. Safety and security are of the utmost priority. When
necessary I will rectify safety and/ or security issues in an expedient and professional manner.
I am accustomed to documenting faults and corrective actions in a journal. Utilizing a ticket system helps to
track service calls and determine patterns of outages.
I am available for any shift, salary or hourly, field or in-house work. I am willing to travel as needed.
I would enjoy the opportunity to meet with you in person and discuss my employment possibilities with you. I
am interested in becoming a part of your innovative and progressive community. Please feel free to contact
me any time at the address or phone number listed below.
Thank You,
Peter Edmonston
